Rikkyo Kaishuu Commemoration — Ichimanben Kushoukai (10,000 Odaimoku Chanting)

On April 28, 1253, a decisive moment in Buddhist history took place. After years of rigorous study across Japan, Nichiren Shounin returned to his birthplace and went before dawn to Asahi-ga-mori on Mount Kiyosumi in present day Chiba Prefecture in Japan. Facing the rising sun over the Pacific Ocean, he chanted Namu Myo Ho Ren Ge Kyo aloud for the first time and declared his vow to propagate the Lotus Sutra for the salvation of all people.

Later that morning, in front of priests, followers, and his own teacher, he delivered a bold sermon proclaiming that the Lotus Sutra is the highest teaching of the Buddha and that chanting the Odaimoku is the direct path to enlightenment in this age. This public declaration is known as Rikkyo Kaishu — the establishment of the true teaching and the founding of the sect.

At just 32 years old, Nichiren Shounin took upon himself the mission of Bodhisattva Jyogyou, vowing to fulfill the Buddha’s long-cherished wish to transform this troubled world into a peaceful Buddhist land. From this single act of faith began a movement that continues to guide practitioners even today.

To honor this sacred day, we invite you to join us in Ichimanben Kushoukai — chanting the Odaimoku 10,000 times together in faith and unity.

रिक्क्यो काइशू स्मृति — इचिमानबेन कुशोकाइ (10,000 ओदाइमोकु जप )

१२५३ अप्रिल २८ मा बौद्ध इतिहासको एक निर्णायक क्षण घट्यो। वर्षौंसम्म जापानभरि कठोर अध्ययन पूरा गरेपछि, निचिरेन शोनिन आफ्नै जन्मभूमि फर्कनुभयो र बिहान सबेरै आसाही गा मोरी मा, कियोसूमी पर्वत मा पुग्नुभयो, जुन आजको चिबा मा पर्छ। प्रशान्त महासागरमाथि उदाउँदै गरेको सूर्यतर्फ फर्केर उहाँले पहिलो पटक उच्च स्वरमा नामु म्यो हो रेन गे क्यो जप्नुभयो र सबै प्राणीहरूको उद्धारका लागि सत्धर्म पुंडरीक सूत्र को प्रचार गर्ने आफ्नो प्रण सार्वजनिक गर्नुभयो।

त्यही बिहान पछि, भिक्षुहरू, अनुयायीहरू र आफ्नै गुरूको उपस्थितिमा उहाँले साहसी धर्मदेशना गर्नुभयो। उहाँले घोषणा गर्नुभयो कि सत्धर्म पुंडरीक सूत्र नै बुद्धको सर्वोच्च उपदेश हो र ओदाइमोकु जप्नु नै यस युगमा बोधि प्राप्त गर्ने प्रत्यक्ष मार्ग हो। यही सार्वजनिक घोषणा रिक्क्यो काइशू— उहाँको शिक्षाको स्थापना र संघको आरम्भ — का रूपमा परिचित छ।

केवल ३२ वर्षको उमेरमा, निचिरेन शोनिन ले विशिष्टचरित्र बोधिसत्वको दायित्व आफ्नै काँधमा लिनुभयो, र यो अशान्त संसारलाई शान्त बौद्ध भूमि बनाउने बुद्धको दीर्घकालीन अभिलाषा पूरा गर्ने प्रतिज्ञा गर्नुभयो। यही एक आस्थापूर्ण कार्यबाट सुरु भएको श्रद्धाले आजसम्म पनि साधकहरूलाई मार्गदर्शन गरिरहेको छ।

यस पवित्र दिनको सम्मानमा, हामी तपाईंलाई इचिमानबेन कुशोकाइ मा सहभागी हुन हार्दिक निमन्त्रणा गर्दछौं — आस्था र एकताका साथ मिलेर ओदाइमोकु १०,००० पटक जप्न।
